Clan Duncan Beary Good Bi Nature (Teddy)
Welcome to Teddy's Page!
As you can see, I finally picked a registered name. Clan Duncan is the kennel name of course, and then Beary (a play on Teddy Bear) and Bi, since he's a bi-black!
So most everyone knows now that yes, I got another Sheltie (see my first Sheltie love, plus numerous links and stuff here) and yes I am a bit crazy, but Teddy's here and I wouldn't change it for the world! I am thrilled that he is a little bi-black baby. After Logan, my wonderful sable, I really wanted a bi-blue or a bi-black little boy. Well the fates aligned so that it all worked out.
I travelled quite a ways for Teddy. I truly believe that this was my one shot to own a Clan Duncan Sheltie and so I embarked on a journey to meet Dana Quinney and her wonderful dogs. If you don't know about Clan Duncan dogs, web art, Sheltie funnies and games, and Dana herself, you can find out here.
Our trip home was stressful and crazy, but Teddy took the whole thing in stride and was a real trooper about everything. I can't tell you how many compliments we got on the way home about how quiet he was (even got asked if I had given him benadryl, which I did not) and how beautiful he was. I also can't recall how many times I've heard, "I didn't know they came in that color!" I wrote about the havoc on the trip back and if you have a little time, you can read it here.
Teddy was born on August 28th, 2009. He is now 35 weeks/8 months old!!! My how time has flown. He is housetrained, although you have to keep a close watch on him. He doesn't come and get you to let you know he needs to go out, nor does he vocalize. He just goes to the back door and takes a few spins - very quietly. We are currently in the process of teaching him to ring a bell so that we will know from anywhere in the house when he's got to go. He is a very early riser and such a goofball. And boy can he spin and jump. He loves to give kisses, chew bones and basically be a pup. Oh, and his ball drive is like every other Sheltie I've ever met - insane!!
He has already completed his puppy training classes and passed with flying colors. He knows sit, down, rollover, shake, leave it and take it. We are still working on recall and stays. Once we get those a little more down pat, we'll head for the intermediate classes and work some more.
And of course, now on to the fun stuff! Below are a few pics of Teddy. I'll try to keep this updated, but alas, myself, a husband, a son and three dogs keep me more than busy.
And I can't resist adding the following picture. It took some help from Daddy to hand me the second one, but they posed for several pics and in this one, they were both giving sugar. My beautiful, sweet boys. Look at all those legs and fur!!!
I've also included a pic below of why a Sheltie is not a dog for everyone......this is the hair I brushed off of Logan in one brushing. It took two hours to do and this is the "finished" product. That is my size 9 women's shoe for reference. And all I could think about afterwards was that I now have a black pile of hair to go with the sable one. What was I thinking?! :-)
Well I hope you have enjoyed Teddy's little homepage. I will update again when I can. Please click the Sheltie below if you would like to contact me about anything. Until next time!
