Art, well this is a funny topic for me.  You see it starts when I was just a little kid.  I always like drawing, especially cartoons.  My dad always figured I'd be a comic book artist or have a Sunday comic.  Well things happen and we forget some of the things we knew as kids and grow up.  Some call it loosing your innocence.  Whatever it is, I forgot that I could draw for a long time and it's only been a few years ago that I started again.

So what type of art do I like?  Well, there really isn't much I don't "appreciate."  However, I am drawn to four main areas:

  1. Black and white drawings.

  2. Comic book style; especially the female form (yes I know typical guy)

  3. Western Art

  4.   Advertisements

The black & white is mostly what I do, in fact I have a wall in our game room that is nothing but my drawings and ads that were cut out of magazines that I've just thought were really cool.  Some of my favorites are Absolut Vodka ads.  I do most of them by hand with a pencil, shading them to look almost 3D.  I'll put some up here as I have time to scan them in. Aleen's favorite is a cube that has my initials cut out of it. I intend to make it out of wood someday when we get a house.  Till then, she'll have to just see it on the wall.  My favorite and her least favorite is a replication of a Troy Lee Design, I think it was called the joker that I took out of one of his images and enlarged it to about 8x10.

The second type of artwork that fascinates me is comic book style. Now I don't read comic books very often and usually I pick them up cause the artwork caught my attention. Now being a guy, one of my favorite subjects has always been the female form and I've never been that good at accurately depicting proportion. So comic book style art where women have a two-inch waist is easier for me to draw.

The third type, Western Art, should be of no surprise to anyone that knows me.  I've grown up riding horses and working outside, building things and camping.  One of my most prize possessions is a painting my mom did for me of two cowboys riding through the plains with mountains in the background.

The forth type, I've already mentioned and it adorns my "wall o' art" so I won't say much.  But if it's cool and I don't mind destroying a magazine, I'll cut it out and put it up.

There is one more medium of art you are likely to see here and that's photography.  If you've looked at our pet page, you've undoubtedly seen the photos of our pets but let's just say that doesn't even scratch the surface.  Both Aleen and I are what you would call shutterbugs.  We only differ in one way; I prefer black and white film, while she prefers color.

So with that said, enjoy!
